For ten years, I worked closely with a dear friend who
passed away of cancer in 2008. To facilitate my own healing, I immersed
myself in tarot and began creating tarot-based cards, starting with
"King Miya."
After creating that first card, I continued drawing tarot cards to honor
and express appreciation for loved ones. That was the beginning of
"Tarot of Friends and Familiar." The deck has gone through many
transformations and is now "Quel Tarot."
The first 22-card Majors only deck has sold out and I have completed all
78 cards for a full deck, complete with Majors and Minors! Quel is
French for "that" or "which." Quel Tarot blends various traditions, both
tarot and non, and incorporates imagery from dreams, unconscious
inspiration, and my own life experiences. You could say Quel is a bit of
magic realism combined with idiosyncratic surreality.
This deck is for anyone interested in empowering themselves by shedding
light on inner processes. It's intended for beginning and experienced
tarot readers, people with an interest in meditation or intuition, those
seeking self-growth, dream-workers, writers and/or artists looking for
inspiration, and anyone else who wants to explore tarot.
The images provide another voice for the subconscious, making it easier
to listen to its wisdom. They tell our stories and help us be heard. I
hope you find as much enjoyment in these cards as I have in creating
